New Microsoft 365 Email Limits going into effect starting on April 3rd

๐Ÿš€ Exciting Update for Exchange Online Users! ๐Ÿš€

To ensure the best experience for all our users, Exchange Online is introducing new tenant-level outbound email limits, known as the Tenant External Recipient Rate Limit (TERRL). These limits are designed to prevent misuse and ensure availability for everyone.

Starting in April, Microsoft will gradually roll out these new limits based on the number of email licenses a tenant has. By May, all tenants will be included. Most customers won't be impacted, but it's important to stay informed!

๐Ÿ“… TERRL Rollout Schedule:

  • April 3, 2025: Tenants with โ‰ค 25 email licenses
  • April 10, 2025: Tenants with โ‰ค 200 licenses
  • April 17, 2025: Tenants with โ‰ค 500 licenses
  • May 1, 2025: All remaining tenants

๐Ÿ” New Report Available: A new report, Tenant Outbound External Recipients, is now available in the Exchange admin center. This report allows you to track your tenant's limit and usage so that you can plan your email volume accordingly.

๐Ÿ’ก Need to Send More Emails? If your organization needs to send more emails to external recipients than your limit allows, consider using Azure Communication Services for bulk or high-volume emailing.
